Psychedelic Preparation and Integration

Keep What the Medicine Shook Loose

A psychedelic journey can shake things loose: a new perspective, a felt sense of connection, a glimpse of who you are underneath your self-protective armor. An opening, and a change are two different things, though. Without integration, most of what a journey offers starts to close back up within weeks.

Some people will tell you integration means journaling or a long walk in nature. Those help, and integration asks for more. Integration is the ongoing work of metabolizing what came up, so it becomes part of how you live and outlasts the memory of one powerful experience.

Many of my patients describe themselves on their intake forms as “not religious, but spiritual.” Something real happened for them, and they want to make sense of it with someone who stands between the white lab coats and the mystics.

Connect the Experience to the Rest of Your Story

Integration is the part most people skip, and it’s the part I care about most. I work with patients before, during (for ketamine-assisted work), and most importantly, after. This work grows out of my training in the Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and Research program at CIIS and my doctoral research on psychoanalysis and plant medicine. Everything we do sits inside a psychoanalytic understanding of how people change.

That lens matters most once the experience is over. A flash of grief you can’t place, an old memory arriving in full color, a sudden tenderness toward yourself: we connect each one to your history, your patterns, and your relationships, until it explains something about how you live now.

Think of a powerful waterfall. Much of the time, you stand right underneath your own thoughts and feelings and get pummeled by them. Part of what we work toward is stepping behind the falls, where you can watch the water from a safe distance and choose what to do next. That distance is agency.

Choose the Support That Fits Your Path

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

I’m not a ketamine prescriber. Your ketamine comes legally from your own provider, and my part is everything around the medicine: getting ready beforehand, being with you during the session, and depth-oriented integration afterward.

Psychedelic preparation and integration

Whether your experience happens in a ceremonial, clinical, or personal context, I help you prepare intentionally beforehand and do the work of integration afterward. My role stays on either side of the experience itself.

Come Ready for the Slower Work

A word of honesty: this work isn’t for people looking to use psychedelics to dissociate, to spiritually bypass, or to avoid the slower, harder work of knowing themselves. If you’re hoping one experience will fix what years of pattern built, this probably isn’t the right fit.

But if you’re ready to treat the medicine as an opening and the integration as essential, I look forward to working with you.

Let Your Uncertainty Be Where We Start

If reading this leaves you unsure whether you’re ready, that uncertainty is normal. It’s something we can talk through together in a free 20-minute consultation, whether an experience is still ahead of you or already behind you.

Talk to Me First

That sentence you almost said is still waiting. It doesn’t need to arrive polished, and the dream doesn’t need to make sense yet. There will be a pause nobody hurries, and room for whatever you bring into it.

A free 20-minute consultation is the best way to find out whether this is the right fit. I can usually see new patients the same week or the week after. Bring the sentence with you.
